Suboxone® Treatment

A Supportive Approach to Substance Recovery

At FJ Psychological Services, we understand that taking steps toward recovery from substance use can feel overwhelming. Suboxone® (buprenorphine/naloxone) is a prescription medication used to treat opioid use disorder and may be considered by a qualified medical provider in certain cases involving kratom dependence.

Suboxone® can help reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms associated with opioid use disorder. For individuals struggling with kratom use, a medical provider can evaluate their needs and determine whether this medication may be an appropriate treatment option.

Our goal is to provide compassionate, individualized care and help individuals explore a path toward recovery in a supportive environment.

What Is Suboxone®?

Suboxone® may also be considered in certain cases involving kratom dependence to help manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Because treatment needs vary, a qualified medical provider must evaluate each individual to determine whether Suboxone® is an appropriate option.

Who Can Benefit from Suboxone®?

Suboxone® may be an option for adults experiencing opioid use disorder or, in certain cases, kratom dependence. A medical provider can evaluate your symptoms, substance use history, and recovery goals to determine whether Suboxone® may be an appropriate treatment option.

You may benefit from an evaluation if:

✔ You experience cravings for opioids or kratom.

✔ You experience withdrawal symptoms when reducing or stopping opioid or kratom use.

✔ You have been using prescription opioids, other opioids, or kratom and would like support with recovery.

✔ You are interested in medication treatment to help manage withdrawal symptoms and support your recovery.

Not sure if Suboxone® is right for you? A medical provider can evaluate your individual needs and discuss appropriate treatment options.

What to Expect from Treatment

Step 1: Initial Consultation

You will meet with a qualified medical provider to discuss your medical history, substance use history (including opioid or kratom use) current symptoms, and treatment goals. This evaluation helps determine whether Suboxone® may be appropriate for your individual needs.

Step 2: Treatment Planning

If Suboxone® is appropriate, your provider will explain how the medication works, review safety considerations, and develop an individualized treatment plan. Starting the medication requires careful timing, as taking it too soon after opioid use can trigger sudden withdrawal symptoms.

Step 3: Ongoing Monitoring and Support

Your provider will monitor your response to treatment, discuss any side effects or concerns, and make adjustments as clinically appropriate. Follow-up appointments help support your progress and ongoing recovery.

Outpatient Recovery Support

As part of Suboxone® treatment at FJ Psychological Services, patients must participate in an outpatient recovery program. Our Substance Recovery Group meets Fridays from 1:30–3:30 PM and may fulfill this program component, depending on individual treatment needs and clinical requirements.

The group may also provide support for individuals recovering from kratom use as part of their broader recovery plan.
