Therapy can be a space where you don’t have to have all the answers, you can simply show up as you are.
I’m Tania Fernandez, MSW, PEL, a Master’s-level social worker who takes a warm, compassionate, and trauma-informed approach to therapy. With four years of experience working as a school social worker, I have supported children and adolescents as they navigate emotional, behavioral, social, and academic challenges. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and young adults who are navigating concerns related to confidence, self-worth, relationships, family dynamics, anxiety, emotional regulation, and personal growth.
My approach is collaborative and focused on helping you better understand yourself, recognize patterns that may be holding you back, and develop healthier ways of coping and connecting with others. I believe therapy should be a space where you can be honest and explore your experiences without judgment. I use conversation, age-appropriate activities, and therapeutic interventions to help clients understand their thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and behaviors and how they are connected.
As a Christian clinician, I recognize the importance that faith and spirituality can have in a person’s healing journey. When it aligns with your values and goals, I’m open to incorporating faith into our work together through a Christian counseling approach.
Areas of Focus:
I support clients experiencing anxiety, depressive symptoms, life transitions, relationship and family concerns, trauma, self-esteem and confidence struggles, stress, and interpersonal challenges.
Ideal Clients:
I work particularly well with children beginning around third grade through adolescence who may be struggling with self-esteem, confidence, anxiety, depressive symptoms, emotional regulation, school-related concerns, or navigating relationships with peers and family.
I also enjoy working with young adults who are navigating interpersonal conflict, dating and relationship concerns, self-esteem, anxiety, and life transitions.
My Strengths:
I’m passionate about helping children and adolescents develop the skills and self-awareness they need to navigate their emotions and relationships. I enjoy using age-appropriate conversation, role-play, and therapeutic activities to help young clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
With young adults, I enjoy helping clients become curious about the beliefs and experiences that have shaped how they see themselves and the world around them. Together, we can explore where these beliefs came from, identify unhelpful thinking patterns, and challenge the idea that they are inherently flawed.
Therapy is a collaborative process. My goal is to meet you where you are, help you understand yourself more, and empower you to make meaningful changes in how you show up in your life.
