Kassidy Smith

Hello! My name is Kassidy Smith, and I am a Social Work Intern at FJ Psychological Services. I received my bachelor's degree in 2026 from Southern Illinois University, and I am currently completing my final year of my Master's program.

During my undergraduate studies, I trained with a focus on mental health and psychological interventions. My professors taught me how to provide effective, individualized care to clients from various backgrounds and experiences. I spent my final year of undergraduate education advocating for mental health treatment and equality in my university's Social Work Student Alliance. During my undergraduate education, I spent my internship at a small, local school. I was responsible for the K-12 students who needed additional assistance with their everyday functioning.

At this internship, I learned the importance of advocating for my students as well as communication, empathy, and case management. Before college, I spent my weekends working as a CNA at a local assisted living facility. This experience taught me how to think quickly on my feet, react calmly and effectively under pressure, and provide compassionate care to my clients. Both of these experiences shaped who I am as both a professional and an individual. I have always known that my calling was to help people, and I am so excited that my journey has brought me here!

My goal as a professional is to ensure that my clients feel safe and supported while being able to share any concerns with me. I strive for transparent, empathetic communication with clients of all ages and backgrounds. I believe that everyone should feel understood and supported in a healing environment.
